lauren stern takes it to the house…

Before I get into what I thought of the House of Lies Season 2 Premiere, I’m going to throw a huge disclaimer out there: This is the first time I’ve watched an episode of this show. This is not because the show sucks or that it didn’t spark any interest, it was because I never heard of the show up until just recently.

Now I know it’s probably weird that I started watching the series at season 2, especially since I’m normally vehemently against doing that, but I thought going into it that it would be pretty understandable without any background from season 1. I was really wrong about this. Thankfully, Showtime on Demand provided a pretty good Season 1 recap before the episode started.

Even though I was a teeny bit confused at some points (the recap didn’t fill ALL the gaps), I really enjoyed the show. It was funny, kind of awkward, and had a pretty interesting and fairly new story line that kept me hooked throughout the episode. The cast is also impeccable too. I love the relationship between the main consultants of Galweather and Stearn: Marty (Don Cheadle), Jeannine (Kristen Bell), Clyde (Ben Schwartz), and Doug (Josh Lawson). It seems like things are about to get really interesting and really funny with this crew. I can’t wait to see how the new characters and storylines develop and progress.

I must say that I probably would have enjoyed it a little bit more if I watched all eleven episodes of Season 1. That being said, I would recommend if anyone wanted to check out this show (especially after hearing it’s Golden Globe win for Best Actor for Don Cheadle) to watch it from the beginning and avoid all spoilers. I know that this is something I’m definitely going to do before continuing with Season 2.
